SEARCH FOR SONGS

Search Titles From A to Z

You can search for songs if you’re a music user, like a broadcaster, live music venue, retailer, restaurant, promoter, and shopping mall.

However, you are responsible for paying a licence fee for these songs as part of the Copyright Act. These fees are based on what you use the music for and differ from one user to another. One rights management will submit the data of your airplay to CMO’s so you can earn fees as royalties.

As the only SAMRO authorised company…publishers, one rights management primary function is to register, archive, monitor and produce data reports to all CMO’s in Africa from all the television and radio air play, all broadcasters, live music venues, retailers ,restaurants, promoters, promoters and shopping malls. CMO’s will then process your payments from our data report and distribute your fees as royalties.

Copyright

The original songwriter or composer is granted a set of exclusive rights known as copyright, which ensure they are compensated in royalties earned from the reproduction, distribution, and adaptation of their work.

In South Africa, copyright is governed by the Copyright Act (No. 98 of 1978)

To ensure you pay fees relevant to your business use, please provide us with your SAMRO licence information. Your organisation can legally use the musical works we administer by following simple procedures and paying the appropriate fees. As a result, creators will be compensated for the public use of their intellectual property.
